Rob Owen

Rob Owen
Of Counsel

Rob Owen brings valuable real-world insights to his role with the Dobrusin Law Firm, drawing from his in-house intellectual property and corporate counsel experience.

Before joining the firm, Rob served as general counsel to a market leader in the biomedical industry, where he managed an extensive patent and trademark portfolio while also negotiating contracts, selecting and collaborating with outside law firms, managing litigation, and serving as the corporate secretary. During his tenure, the company saw exponential growth in certain hematology-related product lines that required Rob to revise strategic plans and evaluate relationships with vendors, purchasers, the scientific community, and government regulators.

While serving as the sole attorney for the corporation, Rob became involved with Bio Nebraska Life Sciences Association, a consortium of companies in the state that seeks to promote academic, commercial, and government partnerships in the biotechnology space. He has been active in the organization for many years and presently serves as chairman of the board of directors.

Prior to entering private practice, Rob held a series of advisory positions in the federal legislative and executive branches, first as Senior Counsel to U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel, then as Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, and later as Counselor with the U.S. Department of Labor. He also worked as the Director of Government Affairs for the National Association of Broadcasters.

A proud Husker, Rob earned a bachelor’s degrees in Economics and a Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska. He continues to give back to the Omaha community as a volunteer and board member with the TeamMates Mentoring Program, a board member of the Westside High School Alumni Association, and President of the Christ the King School Parents’ Club.
