Dobrusin Law Firm Holds Open House During Automation Alley Walking Tour of Pontiac Businesses

Community engagement is an important part of the Dobrusin Law Firm’s culture, and as a proud member of the Pontiac business community, we opened our doors to the public during a downtown walking tour organized by Automation Alley and DASI Solutions.

The June 13th “Morning Member Mingle” showcased Pontiac’s growth and innovation against a backdrop of its renovated historical buildings. Visitors were first welcomed to the Mingle at a breakfast networking session at The Lafayette Grande Banquet Facility with presentations from each of the participating businesses. Dobrusin Law Firm’s Daniela Walters spoke to the audience about the firm’s decision to move into Downtown Pontiac more than 15 years ago and the importance of being engaged in the local community with organizations like Main Street Pontiac. After the breakfast, visitors took part in an open house walking tour, where conversations continued about the region’s continued rebirth and the roles technology and manufacturing have played in its renaissance.

Other businesses that participated in the Pontiac Tech Walking Tour included:

  • Cynerge Consulting
  • DASI Solutions
  • FIRST Robotics Team 0469
  • General Motors
  • Kevadiya
  • The Lafayette Grande
  • LocalHop
  • The Next Foundation
  • Paissa Wine Cellar
  • PC Miracle
  • Pike Street Properties – Opportunity Zone
  • Pontiac’s Little Art Theatre
  • Pontiac Surveillance Group
  • Pontiac Transportation Museum
  • The Riker Building
  • The Treasury

It was our pleasure to join with fellow Pontiac-area neighbors, and we look forward to committing future resources to the city. Click here to learn more about Pontiac’s growing tech scene and ways you and your organization can get involved.

Dobrusin Law Firm Announces Recipient of Its First Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation Scholarship

Recognizing the importance of elevating women in the law, the Dobrusin Law Firm, PC is pleased to announce our sponsorship and support of the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan Foundation’s (WLAMF) annual scholarship program. This marks the inaugural year the firm has participated in the program, and it’s an honor to name Tanya Elzy as the first recipient of the WLAMF Dobrusin Law Firm scholarship.

“We could not be more impressed by Tanya’s academic career, community advocacy, and efforts to empower women. She also distinguishes herself by her passion toward the law, entrepreneurship, and the desire to ultimately give back to the Pontiac community.” said Eric Dobrusin, Founding Shareholder at Dobrusin Law Firm (located in Pontiac).  “She certainly sets the bar high for future applicants.”

Hailing from Pontiac, Michigan, Tanya is the first college graduate in her family – an academic goal she has tackled boldly and successfully.  After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Cornerstone University, she earned her master’s degree in public administration from Oakland University in 2016.  Tanya is on track to graduate from Cooley Law School in 2021. She currently serves as Vice President for the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) at the Auburn Hills campus of Cooley Law school and was a Mock Trial finalist during her first year of Law school.

The Dobrusin Law Firm, alongside 11 other law firms and professional organizations, partnered together to sponsor the WLAMF annual scholarship program, which this year awarded an impressive $42,000 in scholarship money to Michigan’s brightest women law students. “Our organization’s responsibility to women and inclusion in the legal field is not a problem to be solved, but rather it’s an opportunity to be seized,” said Kristen Pursley, WLAMF President and Shareholder at the Dobrusin Law Firm. “Tanya and the other 11 awardees certainly demonstrate that they know how to seize every opportunity in order to excel.”  In addition to their superior academic performance at Michigan law schools, all recipients demonstrate leadership and advance performance in important areas of the law, including STEM, social justice, equality, child advocacy, and domestic violence.

Since 1997, the WLAM Foundation has awarded more than $610,500 to 252 women law students.
