JEFFREY P. THENNISCH is a Shareholder in the law firm of Dobrusin & Thennisch PC in Pontiac, Michigan and completed his undergraduate education at the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in Flint, Michigan in 1990. He received a Juris Doctor degree (cum laude) from the Northern Illinois University College of Law. His practice focuses on providing advice and counsel in all areas of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition, anti-counterfeiting, and advertising law, as well as prosecuting, registering and enforcing domestic and international intellectual property portfolios.

Mr. Thennisch is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Michigan, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. Based upon his background in the automotive industry, Jeff has particular experience representing manufacturing-oriented businesses from small start-up entities to Fortune 500 Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in a variety of infringement and product anti-counterfeiting enforcement actions.

Mr. Thennisch has worked closely with in-house counsel and client marketing teams to develop strategies for proactively using intellectual property in furtherance of his client’s business objectives. He has extensive experience in branding, marketing, and advertising law including the selection and acquisition of trademark rights and anti-counterfeiting efforts in the United States and throughout the World. He has a wide array of experience successfully representing clients before the Trademark Trial & Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office in all forms of ex parte and inter partes trademark disputes with a particular emphasis on trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings.

In addition, Mr. Thennisch is a practitioner and frequent author in the growing field of information technology, electronic commerce, and the related application of copyright law principles to digital technology. He provides extensive legal counseling in the development of electronic communication policies and business agreements for companies seeking to control, protect, and develop their proprietary business models from unauthorized copying and dissemination. Mr. Thennisch has also successfully enforced intellectual property rights against on-line content providers on the Internet through both litigation and non-litigation mechanisms.
